A planned step after World Cup return
Jamal Musiala has undergone a minor operation after returning from Germany’s World Cup campaign, but Bayern Munich have moved quickly to ease any concerns over his fitness.
According to Bundesliga.com, the procedure was a small, planned routine intervention that had been scheduled well in advance for the period after the tournament in North America.
The operation forms part of Musiala’s medical follow-up after the serious injury he suffered last summer. Bayern expect the 23-year-old to follow a structured pre-season plan and be available when competitive football resumes.
Metal plate reportedly removed
The latest procedure is linked to the injury Musiala sustained at the 2025 Club World Cup.

According to WELT, Bild reported that a metal plate was removed from Musiala’s left foot during the operation at the Unfallklinik Murnau.
That plate had been inserted after Musiala suffered a fractured fibula and a serious ankle injury in July 2025.
The timing of the procedure means Bayern can now guide him through pre-season without the operation interrupting the competitive schedule.
The injury that led to surgery
Musiala’s original injury came in Bayern’s Club World Cup quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain.

According to FC Bayern, the attacking midfielder suffered a fractured fibula as a result of a broken and dislocated ankle, forcing him to undergo surgery and miss several months.
It was a major setback for both club and player, but Musiala returned in time to feature for Germany at the 2026 World Cup.
Now, Bayern’s focus is on managing the final stage of his recovery carefully.
Bayern expect him ready
For Bayern, the most important message is that the latest operation does not appear to threaten Musiala’s start to the season.

The club’s first competitive match is scheduled for 22 August, when Bayern face Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup. Their Bundesliga opener follows a week later at home to VfB Stuttgart.
Musiala remains one of Bayern’s most important attacking players, and the club will be keen to have him fully integrated before the new campaign begins.
After a difficult year marked by injury and recovery, this latest procedure looks less like a setback and more like the final scheduled step in his return to full rhythm.
